WEEK 12: DAYS 56-60/ESSAY WEEK
These will be essentially “in-class” essays, written on the spot in about an hour-90 minutes. You may also use the time this week to make progress on your thesis.
EVERY DAY, CHOOSE ONE ESSAY. FOR EXTRA CREDIT, WRITE BOTH.
Day 56:
In a short essay of 200-300 words, tell everything you can about your favorite poem of Weeks 1-11.
In a short essay of 200-300 words, tell everything you can about your favorite essay of Weeks 1-11.
Day 57:
In a short essay of 200-300 words, discuss how Silas Marner compares with Huck Finn as a protagonist: a central character who grows and develops and changes in some way from the beginning to the end of a story.
In a short essay of 200-300 words, describe Dante’s descent through the Inferno.
Day 58:
In an essay of 200-300 words, tell everything you can about your favorite saint of this term and his or her writing.
In an essay of 200-300 words, tell everything you can about a current-events issue.
Day 59:
In an essay of 200-300 words, tell everything you know about the Epistle to the Hebrews
In an essay of 200-300 words, retell your favorite Psalm so far.
Day 60:
1. In an essay of 200-300 words, describe the art of Leonardo da Vinci.
2. In an essay of 200-300 words, describe your impressions of the music of either Richard Wagner or Jacques Offenbach (or you might compare the two).
