WEEKS 16 & 17
These are the last two weeks of the fall semester. I'm not sure why they didn't post in order like the others – I must have done something weird when I was drafting them last summer.
Week 18, which I will post the first full week in January, is another essay/makeup week. You'll be asked to write a daily essay of roughly 300 words on some aspect of your reading from the last 12 weeks, but no new reading will be assigned, and Abbey classes won't have started yet, so that will give you some extra time to mop up any remaining work from this past term before beginning the new one.
As you'll see on your narration documents, I'm asking you each day simply to write for 20 minutes on something related to your thesis topic. This would be a good time to consider more sources for your research – the more you write yourself, the more you'll have an idea of what your conversation is, and the more you'll see how other voices might fit into that conversation.
Of interest, some psychology stuff about procrastination, how the mind works, avoidance of things that make us feel bad, etc, as well as learning to develop "distress tolerance," which helps us face and get through things we'd instinctively rather avoid:
No need to narrate these, but they are good, interesting reading.
